Jong Bum JUN’s solo exhibition (4-19/07/2008)

Contemporary, yet retaining traditional Korean aesthetics, Jun's paintings encompass a strong sense of Korean heritage. He has taken the essence of traditional Korean paintings and translated it into contemporary medium. The paintings depict the taste of life in the Chosun dynasty. By taking a knife to the surface of the painting and covering it with repeated layers of paint, the artist has created a unique look. Jun has successfully portrayed his own interpretations of the Korean past with a mix of modern and traditional cultural elements.
