ˇ§Iconographyˇ¨: Kim Joong Sik Solo Exhibition Moon Gallery proudly presents ˇ§Iconography,ˇ¨ a Solo exhibition featuring the latest paintings of Korean contemporary artist Kim Joong Sik. Kim studied painting in Korea and Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. It is not surprising that his works display a strong mixture of east and west. In Kimˇ¦s work, familiar images from classical western paintings and modern pop icon often co-exist with the images of Korean old photograph and historical object. The artist evokes another kind of tension by revealing our common sense and universality through usual and seemingly banal popular images. Also, Kim uniquely paints with a very time-consuming dot-pattern painting technique. While interpreting and adapting existing contents, Kim removes the banality and universality from conventional objective images. ˇ§Iconographyˇ¨ is Kim Joong Sikˇ¦s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong. This exhibition provides a rare opportunity to see such an important Korean contemporary artist in Hong Kong. It is a not-to-be-missed exhibition for art lovers. |
